Presentation: Virtual Obertor

Digital artist Dr. Ulrich Backes has reconstructed the Radolfzell Obertor, which was demolished in the 19th century, and used 3D software to seamlessly integrate it into today’s urban landscape. In keeping with the city’s anniversary theme, “Yesterday / Today / Tomorrow,” his community project combines historical documents with state-of-the-art technology to bring this lost architecture to life today.

About the Artist: The artist, also known as “Time4render,” has lived and worked in Radolfzell since 1999. As a physicist, he draws on his expertise in optics and 3D software to create works of art featuring photorealistic virtual scenes.
