The Artothek, which was set up in the Villa Bosch in October 2015, offers art lovers the opportunity to borrow works of art for a few months for a small fee. In addition, regional artists are given the opportunity to show their art. Each year, selected artists can add up to four works to the Artothek’s collection. Works of art by winners of the Federal Art Prize for People with Disabilities can also be found there. The collection also includes works of art owned by the city. The Artothek is managed by the municipal cultural office.
The focus of the collection is on contemporary art. There is a wide range of works for art lovers to discover, including prints (linocuts, etchings), paintings in various techniques (oil, watercolor, acrylic, tempera), wood sculptures and photographs (black and white and color). The size of the artworks ranges from handbag to van format – so both entire wall surfaces and smaller corners can be given a new look.
