Harvest festival – Concert: the Potatones
Cover rock, pop, blues and funk
Zeller Kultur e.V. presents: Jazz open with Fridge People
Fridge People began in the late 80s as a school band that always emptied all the fridges at rehearsals. After studying jazz together in Mannheim, the band released two highly acclaimed CDs with a new line-up in 2000 and 2006. Now, after a 10-year break, they can be heard live again with their “freeflowing-fusion-energetic-groove-jazz”: away from the head – towards the belly! Music that stimulates the imagination, full of energy and surprise!
The press is jubilant: “What a sea of sounds, rhythms and melodies the quintet has created here! Fantasies that have become sound and thoughts and feelings dissolved in sound are condensed in their
work into a resounding whole that could easily be used as the soundtrack for a modern road movie. “Gripping energy, a highlight of contemporary jazz art.” (Rheinpfalz). “Bands like the Fridge People keep fusion music fresh.” (Mannheimer Morgen), “Well-dosed and full of finesse. Cold times need hot rhythms, track after track of well-tempered fusion.” (Stuttgarter Zeitung). Further information about Fridge People: www.fridgepeople.de

July
Juli entered the German singles charts with their debut single “Perfekte Welle”, released in 2004, and received their first gold record shortly afterwards. This initial success was followed up by the band selling more than 1.5 million units of their gold and platinum albums and currently attracting 1.8 million monthly Spotify listeners. Although two decades have passed since the release of their first single, Juli songs are still instantly recognizable from the first notes played: What remains is the euphoric bittersweetness, the familiar nostalgia and the inexhaustible energy with which singer Eva Briegel, guitarists Simon Triebel and Jonas Pfetzing, bassist Andreas Herde and drummer Marcel Römer sweep their audience away.
Zeller Kultur e. V. presents: Jazz open with The Chamber Jazz Quartet
The band of Freiburg bassist Michael Pöhlmann presents his original compositions in an ideal setting: a colorful, unamplified sound, wit and stylistic sovereignty quickly establish contact between stage and audience. The intense swing of the group has been praised in the press as well as their intimate interplay, and bass legend Steve Swallow finds correspondences to his own style in the elegance of Pöhlmann’s harmonic turns. Line-up: Jürgen Hagenlocher (saxophone), Andreas Hermann (piano), David Giesel (drums), Michael Pöhlmann (double bass and composition). Zeller Kultur e. V. presents: Jazz open with Jazz + Rock Kommando
The Jazz + Rock Kommando was formed in 2011 by the founding members of the Jazz + Rockschule Konstanz. Jazz + Rock – the name says it all, as the different musical backgrounds of the members are reflected in the band’s repertoire, which goes on a treasure hunt through the back catalog of Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, Herbie Hancock, Maceo Parker and Joe Zawinul, among others.
Razor-sharp brass sections and arrangements that refuse to follow orders are two of the Jazz + Rock Kommando’s distinguishing features. The development of an independent band sound and the willingness to take risks and explore the repertoire anew improvisationally at every concert are two more. The undoubtedly recognizable musical origins of the protagonists from jazz, rock and funk are the persistent guarantee for unique concert experiences. Line-up: Carsten Stamm (trumpet/flugelhorn), Volker Wagner (tenor sax), Klaus Knöpfle (alto/soprano sax), Tobias Rädle (keyboards), Reinhard Stehle (guitar), Arpi Ketterl (bass), Patrick Manzecchi (drums). At the end of the season: The Klarifari children’s hands-on circus on the meadow
Söhne Mannheims Piano
The live format SÖHNE MANNHEIMS PIANO has quietly conquered the concert stages:
Söhne hits in piano versions, performed by Florian Sitzmann on the grand piano and Dominic Sanz, Giuseppe “Gastone” Porrello, Karim Amun, Michael Klimas and Metaphysics on the microphones.
A special, intimate atmosphere is created when Söhne pianist Florian Sitzmann reinterprets the band’s songs in piano versions. These are concert evenings full of goosebump moments for the fans, who are invited to sing along – but also for the singers, who reveal the pure and unfiltered essence of Söhne classics such as “Und wenn ein Lied” or “Geh davon aus”. Excellent polyphonic vocals combined with virtuoso piano lines – this is the magical mix that makes SÖHNE MANNHEIMS PIANO concerts unique.
In addition to his distinctive voice, he inspires his audience above all with his versatility. The singer has already been able to prove this in collaboration with various artists: For years, Max Mutzke has played with jazz greats such as Klaus Doldinger, Wolfgang Haffner, Bill Evans, Till Brönner, Nils Wülker, Matti Klein Band, Marialy Pacheco and many more, but also with the biggest and most successful big bands such as the SWR Big Band, the WDR Funkhausorchester, the Big Band der Bundeswehr or with classical orchestras such as the NDR Radiophilharmonie, the Filmorchester Babelsberg or the string quintet Takeover Ensemble.

Medlz – “The 90s – A-Cappella” Voice – Bass – Beat
Female a cappella bands are not as entertaining as their male counterparts? The MEDLZ from Dresden have been proving that these are simply clichés for over 25 years. And so the 90s didn’t just consist of “Mr. Vain” and “What is love”. Anyone who experienced the 90s knows that they were more musically diverse than almost any other decade: from “The Prodigy” and Grönemeyer to STING and “Guano Apes” – well-dosed percussion that won’t keep the audience on their seats for long.
The list of emotions, musical styles and songs is long. This makes this concert evening all the more entertaining – because anyone who has experienced the MEDLZ knows that being close to the audience is the most important thing for them.
And as always, their main credo is: entertainment! The shows are self-deprecating and funny – at the same time charming and deeply moving.
With just four voices, the MEDLZ can bring any concert hall to a boil or create an emotional silence in which you can hear the famous pin drop.
They impress above all with their modern sound. With well-dosed percussion, they manage to create sounds so that many a guest only realized afterwards that they had just experienced an a cappella concert.
Axel Rudi Pell | RISEN SYMBOL Tour 2025
There’s no doubt about it: without Axel Rudi Pell, this world would be a much poorer place. On his 22nd (!) studio album “Risen Symbol”, the Bochum-based guitarist and songwriter continues to fly the flag of melodic hard rock without watering it down with pseudo-modern stylistic variations or gimmicky studio gimmicks. At the same time, he is constantly searching for new influences, exciting inspirations and catchy hooks.
The best thing about the ARP anthems: they are perfectly tailored to the charismatic voice of frontman Johnny Gioeli. The American is one of the best rock singers in the world and, together with Pell, former Rainbow drummer Bobby Rondinelli and the two long-time ARP members Ferdy Doernberg (keyboards) and Volker Krawczak (bass), has been a perfectly coordinated team for more than ten years, winning over fans and media alike.
“Risen Symbol” was released on June 14, 2024 via Steamhammer/SPV. For the impatient, there were two pre-release songs on April 3, 2024 with the first single ‘Guardian Angel’ and on May 22, 2024 with the follow-up “Darkest Hour”, which Pell aptly describes with the words: “Both “Guardian Angel” and “Darkest Hour” are typical ARP songs, but not necessarily representative of “Risen Symbol”.”
