Levels” art project at the Villa Bosch

Visual art experience at the Villa Bosch

From Wednesday evening, October 2, 2024, those interested in culture can embark on a visual journey of discovery that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technology in the basement of Villa Bosch.
The extraordinary art project “Levels” by Victoria Graf and Daniel Rahm invites you to immerse yourself in a world of shapes, colors, movement and plays of light.
The project, which challenges the senses and fascinates with various media, will be opened as part of the Radolfzell Culture Night on October 2, 2024 at 6.00 pm.
The complex installation will be on display in the basement of Villa Bosch during the opening hours of the building (Wednesday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.) until the end of November.

The installation visualizes the theme of planes: Both one-dimensional prints on Japanese paper and three-dimensionally illuminated objects are colorfully staged in front of the viewer’s eyes.

For the design, Victoria Graf was inspired by various architectural forms – including old industrial buildings and regional structures.
For the first level of the project, various motifs were printed by hand as linocuts on fine Japanese paper, with several printing plates superimposed on top of each other.
The multiple layers of paper and film create a visual depth that gives the impression of a dense, industrial network.
The image appears intentionally messy and chaotic, emphasizing the creative process.
The complex, sometimes abstract forms reflect the fusion of technology and aesthetics found in industrial structures.

The second level of paper, foil and light is presented hanging in the art project, the third level consists of the technical realization in moving images, while the last three-dimensional level is achieved by a luminous object.

For the technical implementation, Daniel Rahm and Daniel Möhrle animated and digitally processed the images and prints.
Using beamers on screens, they projected them onto three-dimensional objects during the art project.
The fascinating interplay of shapes and light, which blurs the boundaries between reality, animation and art, creates new perspectives on the artworks on the one hand – and completely new art forms on the other.
